Mayo Clinic plans to collaborate separately with Microsoft Research and Cerebras Systems to develop generative AI models designed to improve patient care, speed up diagnostic time, and improve accuracy.
Mayo Clinic and Microsoft Research are developing a multimodal AI foundation model that integrates text and x-ray images. The aim is to develop a model that can automatically generate reports, evaluate tube and line placement in chest x-rays, and detect changes from prior images, Mayo Clinic said.
Mayo Clinic and Cerebras have created a genomic foundation model that combines publicly available human reference genome data with Mayo’s comprehensive patient exome data. The model is capable of analyzing genomic data and comparing them in almost real-time with patients with similar traits, which allows for more precise prediction of disease and treatment response, Mayo Clinic said.
The collaborations were announced during the 43rd annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare conference being held January 13 to 16 in San Francisco.
